Young Dancers Initiative (YDI) was founded in 2013 as a performance-based dance organization dedicated to providing young dancers with high-quality training, artistic opportunities, and meaningful community engagement. In its early years, YDI operated a robust performing company, presenting original works and engaging in extensive outreach that brought dance education and performance into schools and community spaces. Through these efforts, YDI emphasized not only technical excellence, but also personal growth, discipline, and creative expression.
Over time, YDI evolved in response to the changing needs of young dancers. Today, YDI functions as a focused coaching and mentoring program, centering the whole dancer. The program provides one-on-one and small-group mentoring that supports dancers in goal-setting, confidence-building, career exploration, and navigating the physical and emotional demands of dance training. In addition to mentoring, YDI offers private lessons to support technical development and individualized growth. Through this model, YDI continues its commitment to nurturing resilient, empowered young dancers by providing guidance, encouragement, and tools that extend well beyond the studio.
